Troy Baker is a doctoral candidate with the MSCA Maestri doctoral network, starting his PhD in BioRobotics at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna this October. Troy has a background in soft robotic actuator design with a Master of Research from Imperial College London. He has also volunteered with prosthetic groups.

actuators with mixed stiffness silicones
At Sant’Anna he has been working with the fabrication of traditional soft robotic actuators to develop a basis for how magnetic materials could incorporated to their design. This aligns with project DC7, directed at the development of proof-of-concept magnetic based actuators for bio-inspired actuators. Troy will work under this project and closely with the candidate for DC8, the development of variable stiffness joints, when Prensilia nominates their doctoral candidate.
