Doctoral Training School 3 (DTS3) is split into two parts: Part 1 consists of purely online sessions and takes place at the end of February 2026. Part 2 is in presence and takes place in advance of the ICMF conference in July at University of Vienna. Two of the MAESTRI beneficiaries contribute to the conference. Prof. Sofia Kantorovich has the chair of the local organizing committee and Prof. Matteo Cianchetti gives a plenary speech.
The organizational split of DTS3 follow the guidelines of the MSCA Green Charta, to reduce carbon footprint due to travel efforts.
Doctoral Candidates of the DN MAESTRI must be present at the DTS3, external participants are welcome!
DTS3 consist of a Scientific Training Workshop 3 (STWS3) “Digital twins for magnetic soft matter” and a Non-Scientific Training Workshop 3 (NTWS3) “Mid-term assessment of doctoral work, trainings and progress of Personal Career Development Plans (PCDPs)”.
Doctoral Training School 3 :
| STWS3: “Digital twins for magnetic soft matter” | NTWS3: “Mid-term assessment of doctoral work, trainings and progress of PCDPs” |
| Introduction into physical computation methods 1 | Assessment session for general progress of doctoral theses and PCDP |
| Introduction into physical computation methods 2 | Feature session: Science communication; Preparation for Annual Conference 2; Assessment session for the first paper |
| FEA simulations of soft and magnetic materials | Feature session: Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection and project management 1 |
| Multiphysics Mechanics and Modelling | Feature session: IPR protection and project management 2 |
| Practical: Simulation of MAE-based devices | Public Relations; Inside knowledge on application for EU funding |
Online session: can be followed online. Restrictions and limitations may apply.
Presence session: only in presence. Restrictions and limitations may apply.
Internal workshop DN MAESTRI: only members of DN MAESTRI can participate.

The program of the 2nd part for July in Vienna will be uploaded in good time.
The DTS3 will be opened for interested researchers outside of MAESTRI DN upon registration, to complement the doctoral training of external doctoral candidates. Due to organizational and didactic reasons, it is not possible for researchers outside of the DN MAESTRI to participate in the internal workshop of DN MAESTRI (Assessment session for general progress of doctoral theses and PCDP).
Registration is required since the number of places is limited. For DTS3 there are no fees for participation, but the travel to Vienna, and the accommodation must be organized and paid by accepted external participants themselves. DN MAESTRI will not carry any financial costs related to the participation of external researchers in DTS3.
How to apply:
If you are interested in participating in some parts of the DTS3, please register below by providing your family name, first name, e-mail address, your home institution and position (e.g., doctoral candidate). You will receive an e-mail with the result of your application.
